Anomalocaris canadensis, a large carnivorous arthropod, was one of the many uniquely shaped multicellular creatures that appeared during the Cambrian explosion. The fossil was first discovered in the Burgess Shale in the Canadian Rocky Mountains. The name was suggested by I. Makino.
