Dafydd (c. 1215-1246) succeeded his father Llywelyn I as prince of Wales in 1240. In a charter issued 750 years to the day before this minor planet was discovered, he revised and improved Welsh law and made other advancements. He was also responsible for establishing diplomatic links between Wales and the papacy.
