Using the power of SATURN RETROGRADE to fuel your journey

Our Solar System

Our Solar System

Retrogrades are a natural part of the orbits of the planets in our solar system. Since the solar system is a gigantic mobile and we ride on the 3rd planet in this constantly moving mobile we are naturally affected by the planetary motion of the other members of our galactic family. Planets will periodically, and predictably, slow down and appear to move backwards. As with most things, knowing just a bit about astrology can do more harm than good because with the Mercury retrograde cycles having more press, and negative press at that, people start thinking that retrograde periods are some how “bad”.

Incorrect. Retrograde cycles are neither good nor bad. How a retrograde cycle will play out in your own life depends on where that cycle is working in your chart. I don’t look at astrological events through the lens of good or bad. How would I determine that anyway? That line of reasoning would preclude that I could possibly know what is good or bad for you. How could I know that? My job is to read the range of probabilities in the the quantum field of your coding, which I hopefully can finesse and interpret in your birth chart and compare to the movement of the planets for a chosen period of time, for the purpose of helping you do widen your perception of your own potential.

Retrograde periods create opportunities to slow down and revisit the areas of your chart that have already been visited by that planet. Consider both the planet involved, the degrees of the signs that it is moving through, and the house(s) it is transiting to get more clarity on what it is you are revisiting and what you can glean from that energetic expression to support you in moving forward in your personal journey of evolution and growth. This is the opportunity inherent in any planetary transit as it relates to your chart.

To change direction, planets station, like a cruise ship poised to turn

To change direction, planets station, like a cruise ship poised to turn

So for instance let’s consider the present retrograde period that Saturn has just entered. Saturn stationed retrograde – you can thinking of a stationing planet as pausing to change direction, like how a cruise ship has to stop almost entirely before it can make a turn – on March 25th at 16 degrees, 24 minutes Sagittarius. Saturn will move retrograde back to 9 degrees, 47 minutes Sagittarius on August 13th. So from now until mid-August you get to revisit and work on the parts of your chart activated by these degrees of Sagittarius that Saturn is revisiting.

Saturn in Sagittarius - challenging yourself to go for your TRUTH

Saturn in Sagittarius – challenging yourself to go for your TRUTH

Saturn in Sagittarius wants you to work on your personal quest for truth, your understanding of your place on the planet and your studious commitment to expanding your awareness.
For most of June Saturn will make its second square to Neptune, asking you to step way outside the learned structure of your understanding and go well into the quantum field of your potential, beyond your present level of awareness. An opportunity, not a must. All planetary aspects are opportunities. You get to choose if you take the opportunity to learn, to grow or not.  In this retrograde period Saturn allows for more access for deeper work on identifying clearing old programming and pre-coded belief systems.  Saturn retrograde in Sagittarius will help you with this expansive activity, though it can feel tough and challenging, the gain is in the effort.

So let’s say you have planets that fall between 9 and 16 degrees in your chart. If they are in the mutable signs of Gemini, Virgo, Sagittarius, or Pisces you probably will be feeling some tension as Saturn crosses these degrees. Tension requires attention and focus to make a shift to relieve the tension. When you direct your focus and attention towards tension release you start to shift your experience to a new experience, enhancing growth. This is the opportunity of a conjunction, square, or opposition to planets in these mutable signs, between these degrees or within a 10 degree orb of these degrees.

If the personal planets – Mercury, Venus, Mars, and even Jupiter, are affected you might very likely notice the effects of Saturn’s retrograde motion in Sagittarius clearly in your daily life. If your natal Saturn is being triggered expect learning and maturing through hard work or a perceived loss. If the outer planets, Uranus, Neptune, or Pluto, are involved you can expect longer-ranging and wider-encompassing challenges but the working through of them can help you alter the framework within which you do your life. Outer planet transits promise longer-lasting and farther reaching effects.

The house or houses that Saturn will move through will show you the area of your life where the work, effort, and learning will play out in your life.

Alpine forget-me-nots worth the push

Alpine forget-me-nots worth the push

Saturn is the taskmaster of the zodiac and most definitely will create challenges for you to overcome. Isn’t the mountain hike more ecstatic as you push yourself just a little higher? The view gets better and better and who knows? there could be a field of Alpine forget-me-nots you would never encounter if you didn’t give yourself that extra umph of effort. Saturn rewards work well done. Saturn retrograde gives you the chance to work whatever you’re working again and get it done better the second time around.
