There are two keys to having a happy and successful love life. One, obviously, is to find the right partner. The other one is to make a conscious effort to work with the planetary energies that are available at the time. Right now we are still in the middle of Venus square Mars. As I pointed out last week, neither Venus in Scorpio (still retrograde) nor Mars in Aquarius are noted for always making the best or wisest decisions about where to invest their love and/or sexual energies. That sort of thing takes logic and discernment, and for the most part this will be a good week for that.
It is fortunate that this week sees a number of strong aspects forming to Mercury, and most of them are good and stable ones. Mercury is currently in Scorpio, and yes — in the simplest possible interpretation, that means sex could be on people’s minds more than usual. But more importantly than that, Mercury in Scorpio has a certain depth of logic to it that most other Mercury placements can’t match… and you may need that depth this week.
The biggest influence early in the week is Mercury conjunct Venus, which is exact on Monday. This is an excellent aspect for expressing yourself in a creative manner. You should be able to find the words and expressions to both convey your depth of feeling and yet hopefully do so without scaring anyone off… you may have noticed that Scorpio does “intense” particularly well, so be cautious.
Make sure you use those words of yours wisely in the first part of the week, because things could get a little trickier with your expressions of affection on the weekend. Two aspects to Mercury are exact on Friday. One of them is Mercury trine Neptune. That’s a wonderful placement for writing poetry or a love letter, or possibly for putting out a new personal ad, but frankly it’s not that great at being logical. At least these two planets are connected by the trine aspects, which should make having overly romantic and unrealistic expressions of a Mercury-Neptune aspect a little more useful and practical.
Friday also brings us Mercury square Mars. This can make for some great ideas and it can give you the strength to speak the words that you have been avoiding for so long with someone. It’s also a little like that guy at the end of the bar who’s been quietly drinking by himself who then suddenly feels the urge to stand up and start shouting his opinions at you. Please, literally or figuratively, when you are dealing with a loved one or a stranger… do not be that guy this weekend.
