Named in honor of Sergej Pavlov Glasenapp (1848–1937), director of the Observatories in Pulkovo (1870–1877) and St. Petersburg (1893). Glasenapp worked on visual binaries and on the satellites of Jupiter. He observed the transits of Venus and Mercury and several solar eclipses. Glasenapp was a founder of the Russian Astronomical Society. (H 84) _ _.
