Named for the mount in Lycia whose summit emits flames and produces lions. Half way up there are pastures where goates graze. The foot is infested by snakes. Bellerophon {see planet  (1808)} made this mount habitable. This is the basis of the fable in which Chimaera is a monster that emits flames, has the lion’s head, the goat’s body and the dragon’s tail and that was killed by Bellerophon. Others say that the Chimaera had three heads, one of the lion, one of the goat and one of the snake. (H 65) _ _.
