Named for Arnold Schönberg (1874-1951), Austrian composer. One of the twentieth century’s seminal composers, Schönberg developed the dodecaphonic system of composition. He was founder of the so-called Second Viennese School, whose followers included Alban Berg and Anton Webern {see, respectively, planets (4528) and (4529)}. (M 16886)
