Charles Marie Etienne Champion, comte de Nansouty (1815-1895), was a French general and meteorologist. After his military retirement, he dedicated himself to meteorology, installing a meteorological station 1500 feet below the top of the Pic du Midi in 1873. He was a cofounder of the Observatoire du Pic du Midi in 1878.
