Named probably in honor of Désirée Clary of Marseilles who became the wife of General Jean-Baptiste Jules Bernadotte (1763–1844). He later became King Charles XIV John of Sweden (1818–1844) and was the founder of the present Swedish dynasty. Désirée was a former fiancée of Napoleon. (H 39) _ _.
