The caterpillar of the North American Asteroid Moth Cucullia asteroides feeds on flowers of the family Asteraceae. The Latin word cucullus means a hood, and it refers to a hood-like arrangement of hairs on the thorax of the adult moth. The citation was prepared by J. B. Tatum.
