Stratton {1881–1960}, Director of the Solar Physics Observatory, Cambridge, England, and long time member of the International Astronomical Union {General Secretary 1925–1938}, upon the occasion of the presentation of a commemorative volume at the R.A.S. meeting of 1955 August 23. The dedication by the discoverer appears at the beginning of the volume “Vistas in Astronomy” (A. Beer, ed., Pergamon Press, 1955).
Stratton is also honored by a lunar crater.
