Archytas (ca. 428-365 B.C.) was a philosopher and mathematician of the Pythagorean school. He is believed to have established the quadrivium (arithmetic, geometry, music, astronomy), which together with the trivium (grammar, rhetoric, dialectics) was the foundation of classical education.
