Kanmon Kaikyo is a 600-meter-wide strait between two main islands of Japan, Honshu and Kyushu. It is famous for Japan's third most rapid tidal current, reaching 16 km/hr. Three undersea tunnels and a long-span suspension bridge were constructed across the strait.
