Named in memory of František Josef Studnička (1836-1903), professor of mathematics at Charles University in Prague, also active in astronomy and meteorology. He was known as the author of several textbooks and popular articles. He started his work as a lecturer in České Budějovice (1862-1864). Name suggested by J. Ticha and M. Šolc.
