Named in memory of Václav Vojtěch (1901–1932), Czech traveler and Antarctic explorer. In 1929 he became the first Czechoslovak to step on the Antarctic continent. This minor planet commemorates the seventieth anniversary of his participation with the Byrd expedition. (M 34621) _ _.
