Named in memory of the Armenian composer Aram Khatchaturian (1903–1978), well known for his ballets Gajaneh and Spartakus, as well as for instrumental pieces such as the Sabre Dance. His compositions combine in melody, rhythm and orchestration the national folk music of the Transcaucasus with the traditions of classical symphonic music. (M 18466) _ _.
