Vojtěch Matyáš Jírovec (1763-1850), also known as Adalbert Gyrowetz, was a Bohemian composer born in Ceske Budejovice. From 1786 to 1793 he traveled throughout Europe, and met Mozart, Haydn and Goethe. He was a prolific composer, writing 60 symphonies, 30 operas and 60 quartets.
