Named for one of the Nereids meaning “happy victory”, commemorating the treaty of San Stefano, signed by Russia and Turkey, two days after the discovery of the asteroid, at the Turkish village of Yesilkoy (San Stefano), concluding the Russo-Turkish War (1877–1878).
