Scottish mathematician Colin Maclaurin (1698-1746) is known for his “Taylor adapted series”, which he used for adding powers of arithmetric progressions. He is particularly honored for his Treatise of Fluxions (1742), in which he presented for the first time Newton's methods on this subject.
