Jan Hoet (b. 1936) has studied art history and archeology. In 1975 he was appointed director of the Museum of Contemporary Art in Ghent. Well known from his exposition Documenta IX (Düsseldorf, 1992), he has been responsible for several expositions in Europe, Japan and Canada.
