Leonardo Sciascia (1921-1989), a Sicilian novelist and polemicist, wrote many books revolving around the hallucinatory realties of Sicilian life. Sharing with Stendhal the same adamant clarity and bone-dry wit, he is particularly well-known for his Il mare colore del vino.
