Spanish astrophysicist Lucas Lara Garrido (1966-2006), known in particular for his work at the Instituto de Astrofisíca de Andalucía on active galactic nuckei, was also very active and enthusiastic about popularizing astronomy. His career and life were prematurely and tragically ended by cancer.
