Vasilij Rumyantsev (b. 1968) is a Russian astronomer working at the Crimean Astrophysical Observatory. Observing in particular near-earth asteroids and comets, he has become an expert in CCD astronomy. In 1995, the discoverer met him for the first time at Tunguska, Siberia.
