Named in honor of Shigeru Inoda (1955– ), ophthalmic vitreo-retinal surgeon and associate professor in the ophthalmology department of the Jichi Medical School. He is one of the most active amateur astronomers in the minor planet survey at Karasuyama Astronomical Observatory and is the discoverer of several minor planets.
