Takashi Asahina (1908– ) is music director of the Osaka Philharmonic. As one of the oldest living conductors, Maestro Asahina is highly praised for his expertise in interpreting the German and Austrian repertories of Beethoven, Bruckner and Brahms {see planets  (1814),  (3955) and  (1818), respectively}.
