IGEM is an abbreviation for the Institute of Ore Geology, Petrography, Mineralogy and Geochemistry within the Russian Academy of Sciences. The history of the Institute is associated with the activities of such prominent scientists as V. Vernadsky, F. Levinson-Lessing, A. Fersman, A. Betekhtin and A. Zavaritskiy.
