Ilgmars Eglitis (b. 1951) was the head of the Baldone Observatory and director of the Institute of Astronomy of University of Latvia. He is known as the hunter of asteroids, the discoverer of many carbon stars, and as a specialist in the fields of stellar photometry and classification.
