Sidney C. Wolff (b. 1941), director of Kitt Peak National Observatory (1984-1987) and the National Optical Astronomy Observatory (1987-2001), was president of the American Astronomical Society (1992-1994) and the Astronomical Society of the Pacific (1985-1986) and a founding editor of the Astronomy Education Review.
