Named for Kiso Yoshinaka (1154–1184), the Japanese military commander in the late Heian era. He was a first cousin of Minamoto Yoritomo {see planet  (3902)}. Once Yoshinaka broke the Taira forces and invaded Kyoto, then capital of Japan, and he was called “General Asahi, the rising sun” (M 19697) _ _.
