The Kiev Club Astropolis is the largest association of amateur astronomers in the Ukraine. It promotes astronomical knowledge, organizes star parties, sidewalk astronomy and astrophotography exhibitions. In 2011, a club member independently discovered this asteroid, which contributed to its permanent designation.
