Joachim Wambsganss (b. 1961) is a German astronomer and since 2004 has been the seventh director in the long history of the Astronomisches Rechen-Institut. His main interests cover the fields of gravitational lensing, cosmology and extrasolar planets. The name was suggested by the first discoverer.
