Eileen Collins (1956– ), astronaut, became in Feb. 1995 the first woman to pilot a shuttle mission. In July 1999 she became NASA’s first female shuttle commander. Her five-day mission launched the Chandra X-ray Telescope into orbit. (M 45337) _ _.
