Hungarian-Swedish physicist George de Hevesy (1885-1966) was awarded the Nobel Prize for chemistry in 1943 for his work on the use of isotopes as tracers in the study of chemical processes. Working with Dirk Coster in Copenhagen in 1923, he discovered the element hafnium. The name was proposed by W. A. Frƶger.
