Heidi Graf (b. 1941), head of the ESA/ESTEC public relations office from 1977 to 2006 and an enthusiastic supporter of the Space Expo at Noordwijk, was always looking for new ways to draw the attention of the public to the wonders of astronautics and space science. The name was suggested by F. P. Israel.
