Named in honor of Jun Jugaku (1927– ), a professor at Tokai University, formerly a professor at the Tokyo Astronomical Observatory. He is known for his work on early-type stars, particularly chemically-peculiar stars and B stars. As an associate editor of the Publications of the Astronomical Society of Japan from 1965 to 1989, he made every effort to upgrade the scientific level of that journal.
