Czech amateur astronomer Tomáš Pertile (b. 1933) popularized astronomy in the former Ostrava Observatory in the second half of the 20th century, also as its supervisor during 1963-1972. He is now an active collaborator with the Johann Palisa Observatory and Planetarium in Ostrava-Poruba.
