Luciano Lai (1948– ) has been an active observer and discoverer of minor planets at Madonna di Dossobuono {see planet  (7144)} since 1983. He is interested in the design and construction of astronomical telescopes and optics, and he designed the focal reducer used by many Italian amateur astrometrists. (M 36950) _ _.
