Named in honor of Petr Jakeš (1940– ), Czech geologist, geochemist and lecturer at Charles University. He was a member of the team that made a preliminary analysis of the lunar rocks returned by Apollo 14 and 15. He also studies meteorites and has searched for them in desert regions. (M 34632) _ _.
