Virgo Full Moon: Spiritual Needs

19 Feb 2019, 10:02 am

Happy Virgo Full Moon! This is the time in the lunar calendar when the spotlight shines on health, wellness, work, projects, and the practical details of daily life. Virgo helps us to take care of our body, show up on time, and tidy up. That said, the full moon is exact on February 19, 2019 at 10:53 am, 0 degrees Virgo/Pisces. That’s 7:53 am Los Angeles, 3:53 pm London, and 2:53 am in Sydney on February 20.

Full moons demand. They put things in light and reveal. There may be a crisis of choice or a need to make a decision. When we have a full moon in Virgo, our needs and choices may be pragmatic in nature. How do I take better care of my body? How do I eat better? How do I better organize my day? What are the projects I should be working on?

Virgo is an earth sign and, as you can imagine, the earth element deals with the different facets of material life. In the days around this full moon, we need to have our feet on the ground. We can’t neglect the details. And, since Virgo has a need to sort and purify, we may be on a bit of a cleaning and organizational kick. (Konmari, anyone?)

But to understand Virgo, we need to understand its opposite sign, Pisces. If Virgo shows us what we need to take care of in our earthly lives, then Pisces speaks to needing to attend to our spiritual lives. If Virgo is physical health, then Pisces is emotional and spiritual health. These two signs form a bridge between heaven and earth; they must be in balance.

This full moon in particular highlights this duality between the physical and non physical. With Mercury, the ruler of the full moon, in Pisces conjunct Neptune, our connection to reality may feel a little surreal. Our intuition is heightened. Our dreams are vivid. A Mercury/Neptune conjunction is mystical and analytical thought is fused with magical, liminal, and intuitive.

In the days around the full moon, make sure you’re paying attention to the needs of your physical life as much as you are your spiritual life. As a result, it’s a good time to meditate and cultivate your inner wisdom as well as your inner knowing. Read up on different spiritual practices or traditions. Practice acts of compassion and empathy. Resolve to use your intuition more.

With Jupiter in Sagittarius squaring the full moon, so we may also be searching for truth and meaning in the coming days. Do we need to have more faith? More wisdom? Make sure you’re aware of any illusions you may be under as Pisces can sometimes seduce us with a vision of what we want to believe is real versus what actually is.

That said, it’s a time to get practical and if there is something that you need to deal with in your health and wellbeing, use the full moon to address it. This includes anything we are negatively attached or addicted to. The energy of Pisces is great for letting things go.
