Named for the great Greek philosopher and writer Plutarchos (c.45–125), who studied at the Academia of Plato {see planet  (5451)} in Athens. About half of his philosophical work is preserved. His parallel biographies of 46 prominent Greeks and Romans is one of his best known works. In his Moralia he speaks about the correct faith and style of living in a form as Plato did.
