Patrick Schmeer (b. 1964) is an amateur astronomer observing cataclysmic variable stars from Saarbruecken-Bischmisheim, Germany. He detected the 1999 eruption of the recurrent nova U Sco and a number of rare dwarf nova outbursts, and he has identified several putative dwarf novae as minor planets.
