Named for Andreas Schlüter (c. 1660–1714), German sculptor and architect. Most of his work is found in Berlin, and his style was north-German baroque. His masterpieces include the sarcophagus of Queen Sophie Charlotte and King Friedrich I, as well as the equestrian statue of Friedrich Wilhelm, the Great Elector. He also designed the Berlin Castle, which was damaged during World War II and subsequently demolished. (M 26765) _ _.
