Yayoi Yoshioka (1871–1959) was the 27th licenced female physician in Japan and entered the medical profession in 1892, when it was difficult for women to be doctors. In 1900, she and her husband Arata founded the Tokyo Women’s Medical School, the first in Japan to accept female students. (M 36945) _ _.
