Named in honor of Eugenio E. Mendoza V. (1928– ) on the occasion of his 65th birthday. After obtaining his Ph.D. at the University of Chicago, he undertook a postdoctoral position at the University of Cambridge. Mendoza taught astronomy at several universities in Mexico, and he is an expert on photometry and spectroscopy. (M 22499) _ _.
