Czech geologist Mojmír Eliáš (1932-2002) studied regional geology of the Carpathian flysch. Prolific author of papers, books and popular articles, he was also interested in the planetology of terrestrial planets. He was among the best-known Czech scientists and lecturers on this topical, interdisciplinary field.
