János Csonka (1852-1939) is one of the greatest figures of the Hungarian engineering industry. He invented the first Hungarian gas engine, several other engines and vehicles. He was the coinventor of the carburetor with Donát Bánki. This minor planet was discovered on the 150th anniversary of his birth.
