Rinzo Mamiya (1780–1844) was an explorer and surveyor of the northern area of Japan. In 1809, he reached the north Sakhalin and showed that Karafuto (Sakhalin) is an island separated by a narrow channel, now called the Mamiya strait. (M 41938) _ _.
