Mark Akenside (1721–1770) was a British poet and physician who studied medicine at the University of Leiden. There he met the French philosopher d’Holbach {see planet  (6956)}, who translated his well-known philosophical essay The Pleasures of Imagination (1744) into French (1759). (M 47164) _ _.
