Uesugi Yozan (1751–1822), the ninth lord of Yamagata prefecture’s Yonezawa Castle, was the greatest ruler of his clan. His rule led to economic recovery. He promoted austerity programs, wilderness cultivation, public education, the textile industry and silkworm breeding. (M 42669) _ _.
