Named in honor of Claude Herbelin (b. 1931), of Neuchâtel, on the occasion of his 65th birthday (1996 Dec. 13). A friend of the discoverer and brother of the discoverer's companion Anne-Marie Malotki, Herbelin is an electrotechnical engineer by profession.
